Pristine Sun’s Embedded Energy System™ operates as the “on-site” utility** for your building. We install, own and operate the solar, solar thermal and/or wind system on your property. You buy the energy generated from the system. Our Embedded Energy Service™ does not require you to spend any money up front and there is no down payment. You simply agree to buy the power from us for 20 years. You can buy the system from us at any time. If you move, the agreement transfers to the new property owner. On average, you can save 10-20%* or more on the electricity produced by your on-site system during the first year. Since energy prices are forecasted to rise higher than inflation, you can achieve even higher savings every year thereafter.
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems have a number of merits and unique advantages over conventional power-generating technologies. PV systems can be designed for a variety of applications and operational requirements; they are modular, easily expandable, and transportable. Energy independence and environmental compatibility are two attractive features of PV systems. PV systems can be used for either centralized or distributed power generation. The fuel (sunlight) is free and no noise or pollution is created from operating PV systems. In general, PV systems which are well designed and properly installed require minimal maintenance, have long service lifetimes and are very reliable, usually warranted for twenty-five years with a life expectancy of 50 years.
Growing at 35-70% per year in the USA, solar is now the fastest growing power source. Solar energy is reasonably predictable and the yearly yield is fairly consistent. On a continental level at any given time during the day, the sun is usually shining somewhere and, like wind energy, it can be distributed from region to region. The energy payback time (energy amortization) of solar electric and solar thermal technology is much less than the life expectancy of the equipment, which is generally more than 30 years. That makes these technologies serious producers of energy. Solar energy is not associated with any risks of oils spills, nuclear accidents or other man made environmental catastrophes, including climate change.
Solar thermal systems capture heat from the sun’s rays to heat fluids or air. Most often these systems create domestic hot water and/or heated air for homes and commercial properties, but can also create steam for process heat in industrial applications. We’ve developed a proprietary BTU tracking and billing system to charge you only for the net solar BTUs (heat, in British Thermal Units) delivered to your heating load center(s) – at a discount below your current natural gas rate, of course.
Wind power is arguably today’s fastest growing energy sector. Wind power is an exciting feature of the quest to produce 20% of all the US electric power needs through renewable sources by the year 2015. Year 2007 saw the US add more wind power than any other country putting in a record breaking 5.250 MW. Asia, Europe, Latin America as well as islands of the world have additionally made large gains in wind power production.
Huge additional growth from wind power production continues to reveal its potential. Yet in spite of rapid wind power growth, the US has only tapped 1.6% of its total potential. Europe leads and yet has itself only tapped 13% of its potential from wind. It has been said that if the potential energy from wind alone (in the US) in just two of its windiest states were tapped and stored in the form of hydrogen or another energy fuel, all the electricity needs of the entire country would be met producing an energy independent nation. Looking into the future, it is projected that the US will consolidate its position as the world’s most active wind market. Asia, Europe, and Latin America show evidence of continued rapid growth as well.

RECs, or Renewable Energy Certificates (aka green tags), represent the renewable attributes of the energy produced by a wind or solar system. For decades, RECs have been “unbundled” from the energy generated and sold separately to maximize the value of the clean energy system. Pristine Sun relies on REC sales to meet its minimum internal rates of return (IRR) on projects we develop and fund. If you own an existing clean energy project we can purchase your RECs, or sell / broker your RECs for you as needed to get you top dollar.
For every one of our EES customers, we perform an energy audit at no additional charge. Why design a solar or wind system to power an inefficient property? In nearly every structure there is energy efficiency “low hanging fruit” that can often pay for themselves in energy savings in as little as 1-3 years. For example: lighting (LEDs, CFLs, T8’s), tank less hot water heaters and/or solar hot water tanks, automated and/or programmable thermostats / HVAC controls, infrared motion sensor light switches, and infrared zone heaters are just a few inexpensive examples.
Through our biofuels division, Pristine Biofuels, we can provide biofuels services, including production, procurement, buying, selling & brokerage services for biodiesel, feedstock (yellow grease, brown grease, chicken fat, tallow, choice white grease, etc.), glycerin / glycerol, RINs, and renewably produced hydrogen as well as comprehensive biofuels consulting services.
